Peg Shelves

As with all of our designs, functionality and adaptability are at the core of this design. The 3.2m high set of solid douglas, fir shelves are completely free of fixings. Colour faded steel pegs hold the shelves up, whilst the lateral support is provided by threading the uprights through the shelves themselves.

The unit is made entirely by hand, and due to a lack of fixings every element has to line up perfectly. Elliot spent two days with a laser, stringline and multiple jigs to dill and route out the holes. The result of doing it by hand rather than CNC, is that the microscopic discrepancies in the position of the holes make each fixing a moment connection. This makes the complete unit even more taught and strong than if a machine were to create the holes.
